Joe638
Need to replace mine. I use angled mast step and a 4’11” (tuning guide reference) of rake. And if there is a recommended rigger to build it? thanks!
j22forum2
A lot of the boats use a two piece backstay with a piece of Spectra between the legs and the stay. That way your rigger can have a little flexibility. The other alternative is to give the rigger the old backstay to use as a guide.
TyeDyedGary
Do what j22forum2 said. If that doesn't work for you, tie your tape measure to your Main Halyard, and run it up the mast as far as you can. This will get you within about two(2) inches of the length you need. There are three very good rigging shops in the Clear Lake TX. area. All three are familiar with J22's and do excellent work. Joe638
Really good idea, running the tape up on he halyard. I should have thought of that. Thx!
Cole
I have the west marine backstay. its 24' 3-3/4" (hole to hole). I wish it were an inch or two shorter
