  1. Hello Uncledog - I have an older boat (1983), when I replaced the backstay after I bought the boat the first couple of backstays I got were too short. APS started asking you to measure your backstay to make sure it would fit. There is also an option to replace the "solid" backstay with a piece of spectra between the stay and the legs. I've never used it, but maybe someone else will chime in. Ken USA-45 Frankly Scarlet
  2. Hello Sandy - Have you looked at Vela Sailing? https://www.velasailingsupply.com/j24-plastic-pvc-toe-rail-new-style-with-lip-8-ft-section-without-end-caps/ Just a thought... KT
  3. Please send me your address, and I'll get back to you tomorrow. Send it to taylor@regattanework.com. Ken
  4. OK. I'll check UPS and USPS to see the best way to get a tube to you. KT
  5. Where are you? I'll figure out the best way to ship and let you know the cost, then we'll figure out the logistics.
  6. Sorry about the shadows but you should be able to see the tiller. Let me know if you're interested. It has a couple of small holes for the tiller extension on top, and the holes for mounting, but other than that it's in good condition.
  7. Hello Askold - I swapped mine out for a curved one years ago. I may have the old one in storage. Let me look for it, and if you pay the shipping, you can have it for free. Pics to follow tomorrow. KT
  8. A lot of the boats use a two piece backstay with a piece of Spectra between the legs and the stay. That way your rigger can have a little flexibility. The other alternative is to give the rigger the old backstay to use as a guide.
  9. You might try rigrite.com, they have an angled mast step listed on https://www.rigrite.com/Spars/A_spec_classes/H_J22_mast.php Mast Step Upper SS plate, Angled HS PR-11178UA $ 159. KT
  10. The cabin-top (over the slider for the companionway) is an independent piece. It can be unscrewed from the boat, and worked on independently. Mine suffered from water intrusion from the various cleats and turning blocks on the cabin top. Once off, you can remove the slider rails and cover if you wish. My tracks were brittle, so I replaced them when I rebuilt the cabin top. Note: You need to keep an eye on any build up on the cabin top from the repairs. Otherwise the hardware from the cleats, etc. will interfere with the slider. Ken USA-45
  11. Hello Scott - Tuning depends on the brand of sails you've got. Most of the sail makers have J/22 tuning guides designed specifically for their sails. Also, North U used to have a CD/DVD on the J/22, but I haven't seen it recently. You might try E-Bay or Amazon. Welcome to the group! KT
  12. From the J/22 Class Association Constitution: 4.2 – The Hull Numbers shall mean the Builder’s Code letters, the Hull Number allocated by J-Boats, Inc., on a consecutive basis world wide, and the Date of Molding onto the transom. Example: TSP20949C989 Tillotson Pearson J/22 949 September 1989 So I would bet that the boat in question is hull #4 built in January 1983. KT
