Aft reefing line set up

I ran across this from the Hall Spars J22 Mast Assembly Manual. The diagram showing slugs on the foot of the main is obviously problematical.

 

How do you folks set up your aft reefing line?

I don't have this rigged. But looking at the last picture where the line is tied around the boom, you could maybe dead end one line on the mainsheet bale. Thats about 8" in from the end of boom.
