bleaver
Is it preferred to stay with 5/16” for main and jib halyards or go with ¼” if changing anyway?
vicMoMoney
We find that the 5/16" high tech main halyard never gets pulled hard enough to take a set. That causes it to creep down as the day day goes on. So definitely 1/4" for that one. The jib halyard gets taken up and down often so that is less of a concern. The only reason I see to stay with 5/16" on that would be for comfort/feel to the hand or if the halyard you have is still serviceable. 1/4" size of a given type line is less expensive and puts less weight aloft. 1/4" will do the job. vic
scottydog
If you switch to the smaller halyards you will need to double up on your cam springs. The smaller diameter tends to slip.
