larrys Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Does anyone know of a source for replacement teak handrails?
robertgharrison Posted June 7, 2011 Report Posted June 7, 2011 I just got some from Jamestown Distributors (http://www.jamestowndistributors.com). They were $35 each. I think they're the right size, but I haven't verified this on the boat. On a related topic, I'm planning to try a different way of attaching them. I want to be able to remove them for periodic varnishing without having to fuss with plugs. Rather than using the long bolt and nut method, which requires teak plugs, I'm going to use screws from inside the cabin. This should eliminate plugs. I saw this in the last issue of Wooden Boat magazine.
Guest Alan Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Why would you want Teak handrails again? There is enough teak on the boat already! (The older boats) I was longing for the S/S hand rails for years, until I found some and put them on my site - http://www.kablooey.us/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=498&category_id=44 They look cleaner, and you dont have to varnish! Dont get me wrong - I love varnish (comes from serving years before the mast on my Dads Pearson 35!) but the hand rails have to be the hardest thing to varnish, and hard to do a clean job. Dont mean to be a poop - but I am all done with that! LOL Alan
robertgharrison Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 S/S hand rails Alan, did you put them on your boat? On the mounting holes: did they line up with existing holes? Didn't you have to plug two of the holes on each side?
Guest Theo Mcdonald Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Robert, have you checked the fit on the handrails from Jamestown yet? Seems from the measurements on the site, that it should work.

Stainless in likely better but I just like the look of weathered teak..
Guest Roberto L Castro (Bolido) Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 I replaced mine with standard Starboard ones and they look great. No worries about maintenance and very sturdy. If I remember I bought them at West Marine.
