Will
Regatta Co-chairs Chris and Vic will be chiming in with details, bit save Aug 20-21 for the Youngstown j22 regatta. It's the weekend before the Rolex, so we have some stuff planned both for women sailing the Rolex, or people who will be delivering boats to Roc for the regatta. Guest cdoyle
Here's some of the thoughts we're trying to incorporate into the regatta (some of this will be reflected in the NOR which will be posted soon): A regatta in beautiful Youngstown, NY, the week before the Rolex measurement weekend. We will have a service available (for an additional fee) to get your boat from Youngstown to Rochester, which is an hour-and-a-half drive. We'll come up with pricing that will cover a few different versions of this service (depending on whether we use your car or ours). We will have a car or van going from Youngstown to Buffalo Airport Sunday after the regatta. So if you need to catch a flight, you don't need to worry about a ride. We hope to provide Friday and Saturday dinners within the price of the registration fee. Beer barge (ask someone). A "must launch before" time on Saturday morning so you don't need to be there Friday night. A modest registration fee (two digits, if we can swing it). Quality racing. Billeting with YYC members. There are, however, limited in-town accomodations too. Our target audiences: Women's teams headed for the Rolex Boat owners who are chartering their boats to be used at the Rolex and want to do a regatta as the boats are on the way to Rochester J/22 owners in every locale the Youngstown fleet visits every year (Hello Buffalo. Hello Canandaigua. Hello Lake George. Hello Toronto. Hello Cleveland.) We'd like to pay you back for the hospitality you have shown us. More to follow. I do my best planning at the bar too. FYI - the Canadians are in Kingston on July 9/10th, with a training day on Friday the 8th. Save the date.
