sailor956 Posted July 18, 2022 Report Posted July 18, 2022 Has anyone repaired a soft cockpit floor? I've started mine from the top down, since the going from the underside is a challenge. Was wondering what your procedure was. I am thinking of using 5/16 core This is what came out of it. with some 8 - 10oz chop matt on top and another layer 6oz layer of class over that. Then vacuum bagging it. With the bottom layer being so soft it seems to be hard to get a solid bond to it without vacuuming bagging it. Any other suggestions of thoughts from experience?
ghurwitch Posted August 11, 2022 Report Posted August 11, 2022 Likely it's 3/8 balsa core which is readily available and a common size. It's a pretty easy project and you are definitely on the right track. Just remove the old core well and sand thoroughly and it seems like you have the rest figured out.
