My boat came with a spar mast 20 years and I never used it. The mast is a hall spars and it is used, but in good shape. I believe it was only used for a handlful of years but I'm not sure. I never used it, but I did lend it to a friend when they broke a mast and waiting on the new insurance replacement mast and they used for 1/2 season and it worked fine.
