I'm planning to hang a rope ladder from the winch and drape it over the side. I'll place the step or steps near the water line. Do I need to be concerned about the winch supporting my weight (175 lbs)? Would it be better to tie the ladder around the base of the mast? Second, the rope ladder didn't work worth a damn: when you put weight on it, the step swings under the boat. So I am back to the drawing board.
